9.6 COVE SPORTS CLUB SITE AND FORESTVIEW TENNIS CLUB - EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR FUTURE MANAGEMENT AND USE OF TENNIS COURTS

Purpose of Report

For Council to consider the future direction and management of the tennis courts and facilities at Willis Park, currently leased to Forestview Tennis Club Inc and Cove Sports Club Inc and to update information to Council regarding the potential purchase of the Tyneside Avenue Courts.

OFFICER'S RECOMMENDATION

That:

1. Council undertakes an Expression of Interest for the future management of the courts, provision of tennis professional services and potential development opportunities, leisure, health and well being at the facility.

2. Any future management option maintains as a minimum, existing levels of access for Forestview Tennis Club and Northern Suburbs Tennis Association.

3. Current levels of public access for the courts as provided for in existing leases are maintained.

4. Following analysis of the Expressions of Interest returns, a further report to Council will be prepared.

5. No further action regarding the purchase of the Tyneside Tennis Courts be undertaken at this time.

COMMITTEE RESOLUTION

That:

1. Council undertakes an Expression of Interest for the future management of the courts, provision of tennis professional services and potential development opportunities including innovative leisure, health and well being proposals at the facility.

2. Any future management option maintains suitable access for existing clubs at the site subject to review by Council of the core needs of each club which are requested to be submitted during the for Expression of Interest.

3. Current levels of public access for the courts as provided for in existing leases are maintained.

4. Following analysis of the Expressions of Interest returns, a further report to Council will be prepared.

5. No further action regarding the purchase of the Tyneside Tennis Courts be undertaken at this time.

6. The draft EOI to be circulated to Councillors for comment prior to its formal advertisement.
