Australia faces worst doctor shortage since WWII

The new president of the Royal Australian College of GPs says the national doctor workforce is in crisis.

Professor Claire Jackson says Australia is facing its worst GP shortage since World War II.
She is in Cairns as part of the GP10 conference and says the college is focusing on training more GPs to tackle the crisis.
"We now have a lot more medical students and thankfully a lot more register training positions this year than we did several years ago," she said.
"Our challenge as a college is to make sure all those students and registers get first-class training and support."
