Tony and Carmen, aided by other family members, organised a unique event. Jill said it was the first time she been the subject of a surprise birthday party. Look at this photo and see the uncertainty, embarrassment and terror that one feels when the surprise is sprung!
Jim was delighted that the family was so attentive in making her feel so special. Emily was disappointed that her Canberra commitments did not allow her to attend... but otherwise, Jill's brother, all her children, grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, second cousins and in-laws were in attendance.
Carmen was delighted that her mum and dad were able to attend. Jill was very pleased as well.
There was a DVD with pictures of Jill from 'infancy' to 'maturity' that included the family. As usual, we were all embarrassed by how 'gorky' we appeared in our youth.
The night was made possible only because Tony and Carmen put in so much work and resources to bring everyone together in a very fashionable restaurant with so much room to mix and talk. We were all impressed... and the grandchildren will have special vivid memories of Granny that will stay with them for the rest of their days. Tony and Carmen... thank you very much.
